Terms of Use for Pepelly

These terms apply between you (the parent or legal guardian who creates an account) and COMPANY, ADDRESS, hello@pepelly.app ("we").

1. The service

Pepelly lets you choose which YouTube channels and videos your child can watch. Kid mode shows only what you approved. Videos are played in the official YouTube player and remain YouTube content; we do not host, own or review them.

2. Your account

  • You must be an adult and the parent or legal guardian of every child for whom you create a profile.
  • You sign in with Google or Apple. Keep your devices and parent PIN safe; you are responsible for activity in your account.
  • Children may use kid mode on devices you pair, under your supervision. Children do not have their own accounts.

3. Free plan and Family subscription

  • The free plan has limits shown in the app (for example the number of profiles and channels). We may change the free plan's limits with notice in the app.
  • The Family subscription unlocks additional features shown in the app at the time of purchase. Price and term are shown in the store before you buy.
  • Billing is done by Apple (App Store) or Google (Google Play), not by us. Their terms apply to payment.
  • Subscriptions renew automatically until cancelled. Cancel in your App Store or Google Play subscription settings at least 24 hours before the end of the current period. Deleting the app or your Pepelly account does not cancel the subscription.
  • We do not issue refunds ourselves. Refund requests go to Apple or Google under their policies. Counsel: check statutory withdrawal right wording for EU consumers – the stores handle the 14-day right for digital content.
  • Purchases are only possible behind the parent gate.

4. What Pepelly does not do

  • YouTube ads. Pepelly does not block or change ads that YouTube shows in videos. Pepelly does not remove YouTube ads. Ad-free playback depends on the parent's own YouTube Premium subscription and on whether YouTube applies it inside embedded players.
  • Locking the YouTube app. The whitelist only protects content inside Pepelly. If the YouTube app or a browser is available on the child's device, the child can still reach all of YouTube there. You need to block those with your device's parental controls (for example iOS Screen Time or Google Family Link); the app explains how.
  • Content review. Channels you approve can publish new videos at any time. Starter packs are curated suggestions, not a guarantee that every video suits your child. Content filters (such as hiding compilations or long videos) work automatically and can make mistakes.
  • Availability. The service depends on YouTube. Videos can be removed or become unavailable, and YouTube outages affect playback.

5. Acceptable use

You may not:

  • use Pepelly to download, record or redistribute videos;
  • circumvent the parent gate, plan limits or technical protections, or reverse engineer the service except where the law allows;
  • overload the service, scrape it, or use it in an automated way;
  • use it for anything unlawful or against the YouTube Terms of Service (https://www.youtube.com/t/terms), which also apply to you.

We may suspend accounts that seriously or repeatedly break these rules.

6. Ending the contract

You can delete your account at any time in the app (Settings → Account → Delete account). We may end the service for the free plan with 30 days' notice; paid periods already bought remain usable until they end or are refunded via the store – counsel.

7. Liability

Typical structure under German law: unlimited liability for intent, gross negligence, injury to life, body or health and under the Product Liability Act; for slight negligence only for breach of essential contractual obligations, limited to foreseeable, typical damage; otherwise excluded.

We are not responsible for YouTube content, for YouTube's player or ads, or for content your child reaches outside Pepelly.

8. Changes to these terms

We may change these terms for good reason (for example new features or legal changes). We will tell you in the app at least 30 days before material changes take effect; if you do not agree you can delete your account and cancel your subscription.

9. Final provisions

The law of the Federal Republic of Germany applies, excluding the UN Convention on Contracts for the International Sale of Goods; mandatory consumer protection rules of your country of residence remain unaffected. Online dispute resolution / consumer arbitration statement – counsel. If a provision is invalid, the rest remains in force.
